The High Holidays are the most sacred time of the year in Judaism, consisting primarily of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
Rosh Hashanah
The Jewish New Year, marking the start of the days of judgment and reflection. It is celebrated with festive meals, sweet foods like apples and honey, and the sounding of the ram's horn (shofar). In 2026, it begins at sundown on September 11 and ends at nightfall on September 13
Yom Kippur
The Day of Atonement and the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It is a solemn day focused on repentance, observed with a 25-hour fast and intense prayer. In 2026, it begins at sundown on September 20 and ends at nightfall on September 21
Memorial Service
If you cannot come to Yizkor service on Yom Kippur, Rabbi Dimarsky will conduct a Memorial Service for your loved ones on Sunday, September 20, 11 AM at Sunset Memorial Lawns in Norhtbrook. Please bring the names of your loved ones to ber included in the prayer.
